Plant productivity is controlled both by genetic factors and environmental factors that influence the growth and development of photosynthetic organisms. Controlling the conditions under which a plant material is grown is therefore essential:
- To explore the genetic variability aimed at the selection of plant material 'elite'
- To study the effects of environmental factors, define the optimal conditions for productivity or model the impact of stress.
Different plant biology laboratories, grouped in building B22, have developed the complementary skills in the development of culture systems of entire plants or micro-algae. These skills are recognized on the outside of the institution and lead to regular contacts with external partners for new collaboration and services related to the growing setups.
