Nicolas Saintmard studied at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium. He got a bachelor’s degree in Bioingeneering in 2013 and a master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences and food technology and quality in 2015. Since 2016, he has been working as a PhD student in the laboratory of Prof. Claire Périlleux in Liège. His PhD thesis focuses on the effects the PEBP protein family on root development in chicory (Cichorium intybus L.).
This research is possible thanks to the availability of genome sequences or EST libraries, the use of high throughput technologies and the possibility of generating transgenic plants.
