Circadian clock overview

Protein function

Encodes a component of the circadian clock.

Phenotype

Overexpressor:
LHY overexpressor is late flowering under both SD and LD conditions. [Mizoguchi et al., 2002]

Single mutant:
lhy single mutant is early flowering under SD conditions only. [Mizoguchi et al., 2002]

Multiple mutant:
lhy;cca1 double mutant is early flowering under both SD and LD conditions. Surprisingly, the double mutant is late flowering under continous light. [Fujiwara et al., 2008][Mizoguchi et al., 2002]

Function:
Transcription factor involved in the circadian clock. Binds to the promoter region of APRR1/TOC1 and TCP21/CHE to repress their transcription. Represses both CCA1 and itself. [Data from UniProt]
