Appears in the following schemes

Protein function

Encodes a SBP-box transcription factor.

Phenotype

Single mutant:
spl8 single mutant does not display any flowering-time phenotype. [Unte et al., 2003]

Remarks:
spl8 single mutant shows altered pollen sac development. [Unte et al., 2003]

Remarks:
SPL8 seems to be involved in GA signaling. [Zhang et al., 2007]

Function:
Trans-acting factor that binds specifically to the consensus nucleotide sequence 5 -TNCGTACAA-3 . Binds specifically to the 5 -GTAC-3 core sequence. Involved in development and floral organogenesis. Required for ovule differentiation, pollen production, filament elongation, seed formation and siliques elongation. Also seems to play a role in the formation of trichomes on sepals. May positively modulate gibberellin (GA) signaling in flower. [Data from UniProt]
