VIP5 encodes a component of the Paf1 complex, which is involved in the positive regulation of FLC expression. [Yu et al., 2010]

Remarks:
vip5 single mutant has reduced FLC expression levels. [Zhang et al., 2003]

Single mutant:
vip5 single mutant is early flowering under both SD and LD conditions. [Oh et al., 2004][Yu et al., 2010]

Function:
Component of the PAF1 complex (PAF1C) which is involved in histone modifications such as methylation on histone H3 Lys-4 (H3K4me3) (PubMed:20363855). Involved in regulation of flowering time. Required for the expression of the flowering repressors and FLC and MADS-box genes of the MAF family (PubMed:15472079). Involved in the control of seed dormancy and germination (PubMed:21799800).
