Appears in the following schemes

FLC regulation through protein complexes

Protein function

Encodes a structural core component of a COMPASS-like H3K4 histone methylation complex.

Phenotype

RNA interference:
RNAi downregulation of WDR5A leads to an early-flowering phenotype under both LD conditions in the Col-0 background and largely supresses the late-flowering phenotype of the Col FRI background. ( No data under SD conditions.) [Jiang et al., 2009]

Function:
Forms multiple COMPASS-like complexes involved in histone methylation by interacting with different histone H3 Lys-4 methyltransferases such as ATX1, SDG14 or SDG16 (PubMed:21423667). Binds to target loci chromatin, increasing H3K4 trimethylation and causing activation of the gene (PubMed:19567704). Upregulates FLC and MAF4 expression to delay flowering (PubMed:19567704).
