Appears in the following schemes

Protein function

Encodes a transcription factor which is part of the DREB subfamily A-1 of ERF/AP2 transcription factor family.

Phenotype

Overexpressor:
CBF1 overexpressor displays pleiotropic defects, including late flowering under LD conditions. [Gilmour et al., 2004]

Multiple mutant:
The downregulation of both CBF1 and CBF3 through antisense constructs leads to a reduction of freezing tolerance. [Novillo et al., 2007]

Remarks:
The late-flowering phenotype of CBF1 overexpressor is suppressed by GA application. [Achard et al., 2008]

Function:
Transcriptional activator that binds specifically to the DNA sequence 5 -[AG]CCGAC-3 . Binding to the C-repeat/DRE element mediates cold-inducible transcription. CBF/DREB1 factors play a key role in freezing tolerance and cold acclimation. [Data from UniProt]
