Protein function
Encodes a subunit of the SWR1 complex involved in the regulation of gene expression through H2A - H2A.F/Z remodelling.
Phenotype
Overexpressor: SEF overexpressor does not display any flowering-time phenotype.
[Lü¾Œ–”¼zaro et al., 2008] Remarks: sef single mutant has reduced
FLC expression levels.
[Lü¾Œ–”¼zaro et al., 2008] Single mutant: sef single mutant is early flowering under both SD and LD conditions.
[March-Dü¾™†”¼az et al., 2007][Lü¾Œ–”¼zaro et al., 2008] Function:Component of the SWR1 complex which mediates the ATP-dependent exchange of histone H2A for the H2A variant H2A.F/Z leading to transcriptional regulation of selected genes (e.g. FLC) by chromatin remodeling. Coodinates SWR1-C, FRI-C (FLC transcription activator complex), histone methyltransferase and general transcription factors. Represses flowering by positively regulating FLC and MAF4. Binds to the promoter region of FLC chromatin.
